Bouwers explores involvement in Penang LRT project
Bouwers Engineering has announced its intention to explore business opportunities and form strategic partnerships with key players in the railway industry to participate in Penang's Mutiara Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. The company aims to leverage its expertise in engineering and infrastructure development to contribute to this significant transportation initiative.
The Mutiara LRT Line, officially launched in January 2025 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is a pivotal component of Penang's Transport Master Plan. The project encompasses a 29.5 km route featuring 21 stations, designed to enhance connectivity between key hubs such as KOMTAR and Penang Sentral, thereby improving accessibility for residents on both sides of the Penang Strait.
The Federal Government has allocated RM8.3 billion for the Mutiara LRT project, underscoring its commitment to advancing Penang's public transportation infrastructure. The project is anticipated to create thousands of job opportunities, attract substantial investments, and significantly enhance the quality of life for Penang's residents.
